Did some routine upgrades on my mastodon host today and for some reason it broke completely, no boot or rescue. Had to request KVM access to the box to get it fixed. Used the opportunity to change over to UEFI boot and fixed the flaky config at the same time so it is all better now!

For some reason Aliexpress has recommended me lots of fiber equipment, and this got me to research FTTH and GPON stuff.
Kind of surprised that they just split the fiber and send the same signal to lots of customers! It seems to use some kind of TDMA and probably encryption as well (i hope) […]
