A big challenge customers have with customizing templates is replacing our prefixes with their own (families, sheets, views, graphics, etc). We have streamlined a several hour-long process into a less than 5-minute task with our dynamo script. More scripts to come!

Working on how to get a room centroid in #dynamo. Not as straightforward as I thought. The bottom string used bounding boxes and a math formula to extract the x,y value difference. Top: I realized if I convert areas to solids, minus diff, I can use the solid centroid node. 🤦

R25/26 dynamo player not loading folder paths only samples. Seems like its only 3.3+ since 24 works. Tried reinstalling and rebooting with no luck. Add-ins disabled. Dynamo editor works fine. Any ideas?

My biggest struggle with dynamo is reading and transforming structured lists along with understanding what nodes are available and where.

I am creating a SUPER BAD family and project file. Why? So we can collect all junk assets present in hacked together families and project files. We can now use them as reference to automate cleaning and/or replacing assets in files with less manual effort.

However, if you edit the family from the library file, directly reload into the project file, then use the C&P method there are no issues with duplication.

If you export an updated family from the library file, reload into a project file (to keep the updates synced), then use the C&P method, Revit will see the family as a duplicate and add numbers to the family name (and sometimes the type, can't figure out why this is only sometimes).

That is where our trouble kicks in. Users can copy and paste set up families from the library file into a project file. This means a clean import and users can set up custom assemblies/layouts without issues when loading.
