To be clear, I'm not advocating for this. I think the law makes it clear the President does not have this authority. I think the tariffs are illegal. But if the Supreme Court somehow finds otherwise, it would have to apply both ways

6) Democrats could benefit the most if SCOTUS says a President can bypass Congress & unilaterally impose taxes. The next Dem Pres could increase corporate taxes on a whim. They could even target conservative companies, e.g. by imposing huge tariffs on materials needed by Tesla.

5) Traditionally, Democrats favored higher taxes on corporations, while Republicans favored lower tax rates. But in this case, most Democrats oppose Trump’s tax-increase tariffs, while many Republicans support the tariffs. (This is one of the reasons the world feels upsidedown.)

3) Because tarrifs are paid by companies receiving goods, they are a corporate tax.

4) Taxing power was given to Congress in the Constitution. The Founders would've hated a Pres acting like a king by bypassing Congress & unilaterally imposing taxes on companies."No taxation without representation!"

Do you think it's possible to repair divisions in our country? If so, what can we do?

Remember when MAGA thought the President asking a company to remove information was the most despicable violation of the 1st Amendment? And how Biden was the worst because his administration called social media companies to let them know about misinformation, which resulted in removal of some info?
