Back to the point of the OP though; as much as I think the Kimmel situation does go down differently for different reasons, it remains the case that no black person can even be found to cancel across the spectrum of mainstream late night.

I’m not sure whether Disney is held to a higher standard or because of their reach they are more exposed to opportunities for people to express displeasure. You can’t cancel CBS and P+ has dozens of subscribers, while D+ lost a million subs as the parks and ships were getting hit.

I dunno. The fact that it’s Disney also matters. Consider Colbert, where the backlash didn’t happen in part because the ability to protest against CBS through purchasing power is so much harder. And it was (somehow) less blatant.

Not to be overlooked: in Kimmel’s case the censorship was so blatant, targeted, transactional, and personal that you can articulate it in one sentence.
