I feel I have appropriately distanced myself from my asshole past. I've been forgiven by those I've apologized to and I believe I am a better person than I was. My past doesn't define me anymore. (1/2)

I have reached out to the people I still can, whose trust I destroyed when I was a kid, and apologized for my actions. I'm not that immature kid anymore but I feel I need to address those people so I myself can move forward with a clear conscience.

I was a real jerk when I was a kid; I stole money from my parents, lied, skipped school, and in general was very immature and untrustworthy. I am not that person any more but I realize that deep down I sabotage myself as punishment for my history so 2025 is the year I forgive myself. Any tips?

How does one forgive themselves for being a bad child?

Maybe better phrased: how does one stop punishing oneself for being a bad child?
