You know what that didn’t even cross my mind but would make sense. I had assumed more like 40 year old mass affluent folks who looked at two family homes as a cash cow but got in way over levered and over their heads on actually managing rentals. I’m still scared by all the COVID-era influencers.

Not a pro, but my guess would be a rush of new landlords who rushed into the space during the ZIRP era. Banked on low rates for longer and home prices continuing a parabolic rise. Those people weren’t prepared for changing interest rate conditions and rent demand. Again just a guess.

Feel like this daycare story has already gotten 10x more airtime than PPP scammers which the FBI estimates accounts for billions of dollars in fraud on its website.

Yeah I get that, I commented elsewhere in this thread that I don’t agree with the admin’s economic agenda. But it’s also true that POTUS has been breaking norms by trying to pressure the Fed to ease. Any bad macro releases will give him more ammo to call for monetary stimulus, even if its untimely

(2/2) the stimulative lift though isn’t always equally beneficial across all entities in an economy. And it’s not always a responsible or consequence-free stimulus (I.e. COVID relief was necessary while life was essentially shut down, with inflation being a consequence).

(1/2) I don’t necessarily disagree with the sentiment. I think this administration is very clearly only interested in transferring wealth to the most powerful at the expense of everyone else. But it shouldn’t be ignored that what is stimulative for business can provide a lift more broadly.

Trump won’t shut up about the Fed not lowering rates enough (in his view) despite legitimate inflationary concerns.

Tax cuts like from the OBBB are inherently stimulative in a vacuum.

I’m not saying I agree with the policy or it’s good for sustainable economic growth but they are textbook moves.

For markets. This is kind of a staple of investing. Bad news for the actual economy means we would expect to see monetary and perhaps fiscal stimulus, which will then create good news. Buy ahead of expectations - the market is cyclical by nature.

Weird, Joe and Becky were just pushing back on Senator Warren last week for suggesting this should be cause for concern.

So according to Vance housing is a right. I’ll wait patiently for my government provided housing.

Really cool and healthy of cnbc to have Joe Kernan lead the morning MAGA propaganda programming

Grow up

I don’t know how you deal with Sara Eisen all day
August 22, 2025 at 3:47 PM
I agree. Unfortunately the MAGA party has no interest in being part of an international community. My guess is Americans by and large will all be slightly worse off for it when it’s all said and done, with the understanding that there is some tail risk that really destroys life as we know it today

SCOTUS crowned the seat of the President with their opinion in official acts. Legality is, unfortunately for the longevity of our republic, no longer relevant.

Yes - what is the administration up to while every media outlet is allocating resources to covering some tmz-esque gossip?

Hard to get into detail with text limits but I’m assuming the rule developed to keep the game interesting and allow offense. There are some wonky rule evolutions from 100+ years ago when offense was minimal. Think about how much less action there would be if this is an out several times/game.

All this pain coming to the average American because tackling debt costs by raising taxes on the oligarch class off of historically low levels was apparently too fucking radical to entertain. American politics backtracked 7 generations in 10 years.
