Espresso talk: Just realised I can pressure profile like a lever machine on my inexpensive Lelit single boiler, including low pressure pre infusion and ramp down towards the end of the shot, by opening and closing the steam wand valve during extraction. This is a game changer for a coffee nerd.

Don't think I've ever had a tradie who didn't blame the problem on the previous tradie. Including the plumber yesterday who destroyed my tap spouts with his wrench, blamed the previous plumber, and asked for a 5 star review.

My last two iPhones have managed to get cracked or shattered back glass despite being in an Apple case. I'd be happy if there was an option with no glass back knowing I never do wireless charging. Having the assistant in the store look at her device and tell me my issue is "Back crack" was amusing.

Having returned from an OS holiday where day-trip guides and wait staff constantly suggested we leave 5 star reviews and sent us TripAdvisor or Google review links and even followed up days later with a message if they didn't see a review - I'm even more sceptical of reviews now.

I've always thought the Fermi Paradox isn't a paradox at all. There will be or have been many civilisations other than ours, but given the almost infinitesimal nature of space and time it's almost infinitesimally unlikely their existence, especially nearby, will coincide with ours
