I know some people write a story from start to finish and it's done.
My process is always in layers. The first and most difficult draft is to rough it out. It's only after I finish that that I start to understand what I'm doing, identify motifs and themes to weave in. For me, the fun stuff.

I’ve posted this new (and long) story to Tumblr, The Sports Illustrated Jinx. I’m still mulling over revising it, so I’m waiting before posting elsewhere.
I think this story I’m working on is turning into the longest single-chapter story I’ve written. It doesn’t feel natural to break it up into multiple chapters.

I’m currently trying to finish a story I’ve been tinkering with for ages. It’s a long one and would benefit from a careful revision but I also worry that if I aim for a stronger story it will never be done.
