The Yom Hashoah community Holocaust commemoration at The J today was both packed and moving. Here you see the candle-lighting ceremony in which six candles represent the six million Jews murdered by Hitler's Nazis.

Over the years I've seen many joyful, meaningful, moving baptisms, but none like today. At Second Presbyterian our pastors (that's associate pastor Dr. Kristin Riegel in the photo) seven children (toddler to teenager) were baptized, all part of a family with roots in the Central African Republic.

All these decades after AIDS showed up in the U.S. and K.C., people still are working to stop its spread and help those infected and affected by it, as evidenced by today's World AIDS Day gather at the Kauffman Foundation.
