Always a strong correlation between unemployment and hunger. So it is especially disturbing to see how policy choices have driven Black unemployment to a level twice as high as white unemployment. Hunger organizations have their work cut out for them. tinyurl.com/52mtdmkb #NoKidHungry #employment

My wife Rosemary’s first cousin is Representative Tom Suozzi (D-NY) His article this week in a Jesuit publication called America, caught my eye as it aligns so closely with my mantra of Be Civil, Not Silent. Read what he has to say, and let me know what you think @ lnkd.in/e3AesbcS #NoKidHungry

Appreciated NYT placing this SNAP update in the Business Section, as if to underscore that while there may be 42 million recipients of SNAP, all 340 million of us are beneficiaries of a program that feeds children and families, and yields massive economic benefit to countless American businesses.

First thing that came to my mind when I saw this picture of Senator leaders having just passed the landmark budget yesterday, was there’s not a smile to be found - understandable when taking food away from more than 2 million of the most vulnerable Americans and health care away from 12 million.

If you’re sick and tired of the hyper-partisanship damaging our country, I’m glad to share an alternative. In fact, I’ll share 524 of them: The 524 mayors – Democrat, Republican, and Independent – who make up Share Our Strength’s Mayors Alliance to End Childhood Hunger. lnkd.in/ehFFP4Nu

It’s not the fastest way to get to a fire, but it’s the best way to prepare for Chefs Cycle in just two weeks! My goal is to contribute $50,000 toward the 1 million. So far 65 donors have contributed $20,000 to my ride. Every bit helps so thanks for considering.

Teachers not only teach, but bear witness for the rest of us as to how our kids are doing. A new survey of 1000 educators shows that nearly 8 in 10 (78%) teachers say they are concerned about childhood hunger where they teach.

My favorite example of tech superstars using their powers for good: Jimmy Chen and Ofek Lavian stepped away the traditional tech track (Facebook, Linked In, Instacart, Uber) and likely lucrative wealth, to leverage technology on behalf of the most vulnerable. tinyurl.com/bd3vcdvk

The Natl Head Start Assn brought 600 champions for children to DC. My closing keynote message: We can’t have a strong American without strong kids. And we can’t have strong kids without a government that invests in and supports their families, rather than intimidates, confuses, and frightens them.
