Anyone who has ever served has known more than a few Pete Hegseth types: Malevolent, incompetent, loud, dim, brutish, vindictive, deeply insecure, held in contempt by everyone, and an ass kisser to those higher in rank.

The lack of self-awareness in making this statement aside, it's not like he lit up the Raiders. The defense did. It's one start, but I do not trust this doomed poverty franchise to identify and develop QB talent at an elite level.

From Cleveland.com: The Edmund Fitzgerald at Zug Island on the Detroit River on Oct. 26, 1975, two weeks before it would sink in Lake Superior. This was the Fitz's destination when it sank 50 years ago today. Photo by Paul C. LaMarre Jr. (Zug Island is about 25 minutes down I-75 from me)

This is the Edmund Fitzgerald laid up at the American Ship Building Yards in Lorain, Ohio, for the winter of 1974-75. Baby me lived just a few miles away when this was taken. My grandparents lived almost within sight of this location and had often seen the Fitz over the years.
