I say this while extremely, extremely nervous about Yale's game at Lehigh tomorrow, no joke the biggest OOC game for Yale since 2014 when the Bulldogs beat Army in OT.

It would be cool if this turns out well and it's nice to have the whole contract off the books. I don't really believe the Sox under Henry will reinvest but hey, we can dream

Ah I didn't intend to suggest Cora was pressuring them. He's clearly being touted as the savior of this season by some fans. I do think jamming him into the lineup like a square peg in a round hole is the wrong move but if something opens, surely call him up.

It's hard for me to think that the Red Sox are gonna be able to fix this because nothing is showing me that they can.

Hendriks is probably going to get scapegoated for his (admittedly) poor play. But he was right about getting jerked around. Crochet not being told about his pitch limit was alarming. The way Cora keeps bringing up Devers with 1B when he doesn't want to talk about it is a problem.

Not letting Breslow pick his own, fresh staff was a questionable choice. If the powers that be don't let him do that in the offseason, I question if this situation can improve. It's more than a coaching staff, sure. But the lack of communication, seeming division in the locker room, etc starts here.

Expecting high ranking prospects to save this team is a fool's errand. Anyone who pays a modicum of attention to prospects knows this isn't a workable strategy and a lot has to go right. It's also supremely unfair to Mayer, Campbell and (eventually) Anthony to put that pressure on them.

Forcing a rookie to play first when he has no experience is a bad idea. Having a star who is not amenable to helping out the team because he's upset about how they handled his own position change (and not even being confident that he would be the right fit for first) isn't great.

I don't think firing a hitting coach is going to solve it. I'm not even sure that major coaching changes during this season really matter. Playoffs were a reach for the Red Sox. It's still early-ish so they "could" turn it around but I think this might just be them.
