Weekend birdwatcher and practicing guitar legend.
Not the usual view of Oare marshes, though Dan’s Dock was busy with Water rail, Cetti’s warbler, Lesser Whitethroat, Meadow pipit, Yellow wagtail , Pied Wagtail and Starling murmurations. #kentbirding

An interesting trip to Oare marshes with very low water levels , lots of distant waders on the East Scrape. Black tailed godwits, summer Knots, Avocets and Redshanks, Sandwich, Common Terns and LR Plover. Unusual smallish grey and white wader thought to be a Sanderling out of place. #kentbirding

First time out at Oare this year, water levels high, best for ducks, Pintail and Shelduck at their best. #kentbirding

A quick walk around Conyer Creek this morning revealed plenty of teal, wigeon, shelduck, brent geese, redshank, dunlin, and avocet. Some redwing and fieldfare over the orchards. A buzzard tucking into a pigeon. #kentbirding

Why is it , if you decide not to take your scope with you to go birdwatching, there’s always something unexpected to find? Like the Bittern skulking in the reeds on the East Flood at Oare Marshes..
