@raylongchicago.bsky.social honored tonight with his name on the famous Billy Goat Tavern wall as colleagues & friends gather to wish him a happy retirement.

One of the good guys of Chicago journalism - @raylongchicago.bsky.social - retired this week. Ray literally wrote the book on Speaker Mike Madigan & “The Velvet Hammer” was convicted in large part due to Ray’s reporting. No small thing. Grateful too for his decades on my public affairs shows.

Nice turnout Saturday night for Sun-Times legend Fran Spielman celebrating her 50 years on the City Hall beat.

My friend and former seat-mate in the Chicago City Hall press room Craig Dellimore of WBBM-AM (second from left) is hanging up his microphone Friday. His retirement party was at the station today. One of the good guys in local broadcasting and SAG-AFTRA leadership.

Interesting to hear @govpritzker.illinois.gov speculate on #CNN this afternoon that the reason political consultant David Axelrod doesn’t think JB should run for a risky third term is because Axe is probably hoping his pal Rahm Emanuel would run for governor if there’s an open seat.

There’s a growing consensus now that @govpritzker.illinois.gov will run for the Dem presidential nomination in ‘28 whether or not he runs for a third term in ‘26. Could a liberal billionaire from a troubled state overcome the fear & loathing MAGA agenda?

I request everyone who loves nature to post a picture. A pic that you took yourself. Just a photo, no description. The goal is to create a little peace and balance in the negative atmosphere. Copy this text and put a nature photo on your timeline. Then we can enjoy it together.

Ed Burke certainly landed the tuna with an unexpectedly light sentence of 2 years & he may not even serve that if his old law client Donald Trump gets back in the White House.
