No worries! ME1 is still a really fun game and worth playing. I think because ME2 has a reputation for being so good people might think it’s bad in comparison but I like it a lot ☺️

-I think the themes of Reeves version could have been explored in a more original way and didn't need to rely on source material that had already had one adaptation made. It's an interesting point though, revisiting source materials at different points to reflect wider societal circumstance

I am a bit more cynical and would suggest that the The Day the Earth Stood Still (2008) didn't add anything new to the wider context of the untrustworthy alien theme & likely profited off of having a familiar name. There are examples of films that explore the same theme that are a lot more original-

I guess it's possible to play just ME2 but I have the Legendary Edition which comes with all three games and all the DLC. I feel like you wouldn't get as much out of the choice mechanics and lore without playing ME1. Also, romances etc carry over 🙂
