I have been steamed ever since the my CA senators voted for the GENIUS Act and I knew Kim voted for it. So I was intrigued about Kim as the vanguard of anti-corruption. Thanks for bringing this vote up. Kim saying he had problems with the bill and it had the votes to pass anyway is very weak tea.

Honestly, I think this is an oversimplification. We would still have a 5-4 Con majority if RBG wasn't so hubristic. I see Biden not declaring he wouldn't run at an earlier time (Jan '23) as bigger. To the degree Clyburn/Pelosi influenced JRB candidacy in '20, this was an even bigger factor.

Also worth noting that dietary supplements are very lightly regulated in this country. It's often hard to know what you are getting. Proceed with caution.

Ezra has hinted at the local media problems (see ep with Suzanne Mettler) but he just can’t fully embrace it. Very frustrating because he has such an audience.

The most foundational reason we are where we are is related to the risk aversion cited here: Democratic leadership clearing the field in the 2020 primaries for the safe pick - Biden - who‘s skills were already slipping.

Would be great for a more genteel time (1988?). We need someone who is comfortable wielding power and breaking a few (not all) norms. JB Pritzker!

Remember Larry Hogan. Popular GOP gov in blue state. Got beaten handily by a relative unknown.

At 6:55 the guest says in 2024 we had a really bad economy. Nothing could be further from the truth. Unemployment was low, real incomes were up and inflation had been tamed without a recession. Perhaps these numbers miss something or the Dems weren’t good at selling, but how about push back?

Spanberger’s “we didn’t elect him to be another FDR” always rubbed me the wrong way. If only he had been another FDR!

JFC, it’s as if she’s ok with mediocrity.

I think there is a not insignificant part of the US right to whom their mission, their raison d'être is to defeat the peds. They won’t let this go.

Remember about 15 years ago when Paul Ryan was running around saying everything the Democrats wanted to do would kill jobs?

You state that green energy will allow us to create carbon free cement and steel. That’s partially correct. The chemistry (your major) of the process for each release CO2 regardless of how the required heat is generated. Progress has been made on these fronts but not scalable yet.
