2025 was a dry spell in the art studio, not for lack of desire, just time. So I'll post a recent photo I took on a recent walk near our home. I love this decorated tree. Yes, I'll be back to painting. My brushes are calling. But I do love photography too. #photography #outdoorphotography

In troubled times, artists are called to bring beauty and the restorative moments our souls long for. I trust this will be one of them.

The project started as playing around with musical ideas to learn and grow as a musician. It took on a life of its own.

I took this photo last year along the trail to Cable Bay near Nanaimo on Vancouver Island. Whenever I look at it I think "I should have had a doll's head or a gnome with me.' Two very different directions 🤔

What say you? (And what does it say about you?😂)

To frame or not? Some paintings standalone on lighter or neutral coloured walls. Others benefit from a frame to provide a more finished look and a pop factor. Glacial Pond on Mount Edith Cavell is one of those in my opinion. What do you think?

I am posting this on international women's day. This acrylic painting was one of my first attempts at painting people. I wanted to capture a sense of mystery and intrigue. Instead, I captured a sense of fear and hiding far too common in our world. We must be and do better.

A fun photo from last summer at the Calgary zoo (not exactly wild). For the life of me I can't remember the species. Trying to capture these flitting birds with a long lens was challenging, but this little guy cooperated for a few minutes. #photography #birds #wildlifephotography #birdphotography

I miss some paintings when they go to a new home. This small work is one of them. It's peaceful. We all need peaceful in our lives. 14x18in oil on canvas. #art #oilpainting #figurepainting #portraitpainting #CanadianArtist

Hopefully this painting of the glacial pond under the Angel Glacier on Mount Edith Cavell will be framed soon. It's a witness to the pond before the small Ghost Glacier broke away and forever altered the valley. #oilpainting #landscape #jaspernationalpark

Last year I got back into photography (beyond smart phone snapshots). This "right place right time" shot is one of my favorites so far. As the sun dipped behind the hills, its last light broke through the trees and kissed the wing of the sparrow.

The latest off my easel. I look forward to getting a better photo soon. Unfortunately, dark backgrounds on canvas makes it difficult to light to avoid glare.

A recent painting is a good way to start. 12x10in oil on canvas. Need a better photo once it cures a little more.
