Birder based in east Lancashire.
As a birder from Lancs, I was blown away by the number of singing Firecrest in the New Forest during a rare trip down south this spring. Worth the journey alone!

Pete Marsh mentions Pete Crooks had a Camargue ringed Yellow-legged Gull on the Lune ‘a few years ago’.

Sounds like a huge future headache for Moth recorders…

How long will Mapmate keep running for seeing as it was retired in Nov 2024? And what’s the best alternative if (when) the time comes?

If the Iceland is lingering in the area, it may turn up amongst the loafing Gulls at Seamill foreshore…

Reserve list 214… Forgot about Laughing Gull! This is what happens when you lose all your lists stored on an obsolete app! 🤦‍♂️

… Cattle Egret is the 7th species of Heron recorded on the reserve 1998-2025.

Never used eBird, but I’m an avid user of the BirdTrack app nowadays. The Bird Tick List app was a lot more basic but a delight to use and my go to app when on Shetland adding every individual of every species I chose to record quickly and easy with geo tag. Easy excel export at the end of the trip.

I suspect every lingering bird I see will be named Adam from now on! 😉 #TheTrolling

Mustn’t grumble with that pic. Better than anything I got.
