I get the train with my bike a lot

Yes my bike is filthy
Welp, EMR is now at the top of my list for worst UK train operators to take your bike on.

Their class 360s were only refurbished last year. Not sure how you can claim your trains are "kinder to the environment with a smaller carbon footprint" when you don't allow bikes on them?

So last week I was on an EMR class 222 from Derby to St Pancras. I found the bike space a bit crowded at the rear of the train, with four teenagers with BMXs using space. It shouldn't really have been an issue given they were getting off at the next stop, Long Eaton #bikesontrains #cycling #UKrail

Avanti pendolinos (class 390) These are pretty good! There are wheel holders that you can put your rear wheel in, and a dedicated door for cyclists only. There's no access to the bike section so you have to let the staff know when you're getting off

Northern rail class 195 (many of northern rails key routes) and transport for Wales 197 (transport for wales key routes). Have a 'seatbelt' you can put around your frame to keep the bike in place, and it secures bikes pretty well

Some operators require you to hang your bike from a ceiling hook by either front or rear wheel. These are often much less convenient if you have a heavy bike or have bags on, and they tend to swing your bike around a bit 👎

Going to try and cover aspects like how you secure your bike, whether you can sit where you can see it #UKRail #Cycling

I get the train with my bike quite a bit, difference operators have different approaches and it doesn't seem like there's a lot of information on this #BikesOnTrains #Cycling #UKRail
