Ghost Bike Install + Memorial Ride for "Mayor Mike" O'Callaghan

Picture of Michael O’Callaghan with his bike Portland — Folk Hero Michael John O’Callaghan was hit by a Max train and died on Wednesday, June 18, 2025. He fed the hungry, traveled across the country by bi-cycle, ran for Governor of Alaska, campaigned twice for Mayor of Portland, traveled to the lowest places on the continents, protected homeowners from foreclosure and lived on a piece of land no one seemed to own under the Ross Island Bridge. There will be a Ghost Bike ceremony at 8th and Division on Friday, July 11th at 6:00pm. A memorial potluck in memory of Michael will be held at the Sellwood Park, sec-tion F on July 12th at 4:00 pm. He leaves behind his sisters Lani, Colleen, Molly and Peggy and his children Mariah, Patrick, Kesh, Crisandrale and four grand-children as well as many, many friends.
