(meanwhile you have like the first dangan ronpa anime where they cut out ALL of the personal interaction time w the characters...which is like, a SOLID chunk if not most of the gameplay)

i think the fact that it's more of a fairly limited interactive visual novel vs. a game you have choices in already puts it above a lot of other adaptations? i think the big thing anime-only fans would miss is context from the mainline vignettes, but they aren't the bread and butter of the story
