Stunned at this painting, "Men of the West". If you didn't know it was from Ireland in 1915, you could mistake it for a 1960s cowboy movie poster.

An eagle eye would spot the tricolour, and aran-islands style woven belts (the Críos, traditional in Ireland since the bronze age).

PSA; Alexanders are at their most tasty right now. They make a delightful alternative to celery, with an intense fennel like flavour. Pairs great with pork belly. Leaves are great in potato cakes.

I made a cheapo version of a medieval Irish "shaggy mantle". 25 years later, still wear it around campfires.

It's awesome; warm, rain proof, and dramatic. If you think "looks a bit like game of thrones", the designer did copy my cloak :-)
