I'll write this up as a post.

When I delivered @astronomyontap.bsky.social, I talked about this.

A couple immediately attacked me.

After some back and forth, another person came up and told me I needed to watch my tone.

No. I won't do that.

Their actions came from a privilege I don't have.
The US government is aiming to get rid of a quarter million people involved in science research and education by 2026.

I have no words.

My governor refused to remove two board members who have consistently acted like petulant children. 👍🏽

Indiana's governor fired all the elected members of Indiana University's Board of Trustees. Given a recent policy change, he'll be able to fill those seats with appointees. Which means he'll basically have unilateral control over IU decisions, including who gets hired, tenured, and fired.

The co-founder of JPL was educated in the US.

Detained during the red scare.

And was deported to china.

He is the father of the Chinese ballistic missile and space program.

Maybe don’t be so short-sighted.

WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK #MSU

So, we don't provide equal opportunities anymore?

>Per the guidance from MSU Human Resources, please remove the following language from all letterhead immediately: “MSU is an affirmative-action, equal-opportunity employer”.

OK, so I read the journal paper about finding "biosignatures" in the atmosphere of the nearby planet K2-18b.

Quick take: the detection of the molecules looks fine. May be real, may not be, but let's say it is. Does it mean life?

NO.

Here’s a question for #TomBarrett of #MI-07.

Do you support the deportation of American citizens with brain cancer?
A 10-year-old U.S. citizen girl recovering from brain cancer, was detained at an immigration checkpoint while heading to an emergency medical checkup and promptly deported. Thanks to Trump and Musk.

I’m always looking for things that explain a lot but that people have a hard time remembering.

Examples: Air is stuff. Pee comes from blood. All land vertebrates have a single common ancestor. Venus is bright enough to cast visible shadows. Clouds are heavy. Bones are alive.

Any others you know?
