Genuine question: is there any authorization, anything at all, for a so-called Department of Government Efficiency? an executive order? Anything?

FBI Agents Association bipartisan letter to House/Senate leadership asking for a de facto intervention to stop the DoJ/FBI purges. That has no chance of happening unless at least four GOP Senators are publicly a "no" on Kash Patel as FBI director. Not holding my breach for that one.
