The bit that really let the episode down was the protracted sentimental “farewell” to the “fans” who we had literally just met and we were supposed to feel their imminent demise was in some way a monumental tragedy. So we got unintelligible sadness blown out of all proportion by the musical score.

I know it came out last year but Fern Brady’s “Strong Female Character” is a remarkable portrait of her autism.

She was right in terms of the basic meaning: being awake to the situation and lived experiences of others should hopefully help us be nicer to each other. She is nearer the correct meaning than the many variations from people who use the word “woke” to denigrate anything or anyone they don’t like .
