Wages have kept up with inflation (in fact, they've significantly outpaced inflation). And the non-mobile game market has been growing pretty slowly in recent years.

This is real wage growth (aka, inflation-adjusted) from 2019-2023. The income of the lowest-wage workers grew significantly faster than inflation.

Wage growth during the recovery was fastest for the poorest workers (far outpacing inflation on average). Now, this is an average, so some people's wages fell behind inflation, but most Americans' wages did not.

Ok, but I’m only really concerned about the comparison to violence levels in the modern day … and the linked paper just directly says that their estimates are significantly higher than violent death rates in the 21st century (even with all our war and genocide).

Seems like literally the opposite of a trend towards protectionism.
