McDaniels is such an enigma. The offense was hugely improved over last year, they made the Superbowl, and Maye almost won MVP. Yet, his playcalling makes me want to gouge my eyeballs out most of the time.

'99 was better but less lucky (big BABIP spike), so the overall '00 results were better. But it's like picking between the better of OK Computer and Kid A. Both insanely great just in different ways.

If you want to feel better, take a look at Alonso's similar hitters list on B-R and check out how they did in their age 31 and later seasons. The O's could have picked up a new late career Chris Davis.
