with this game being an isometric strategy RPG. It still uses that perfect blend of 3D and stylized textures that attracts me like a fly to wax paper. Never mind that I love everything else about this game. The music, characters, story, dialogue, gameplay, and so on. It's another one of those >>

Both examples from Morrowind and Neverwinter Nights respectively, come from custom content and orchestrate more of my point. Ironically enough, both are dock districts by pure happenstance. These two RPG's effectively capture that inexplicably "homey" feeling I get with early 3D games. >>

This was one of the first games I ever owned when I first received a PlayStation 1, and its colorful, early anime aesthetic has always stuck with me. Despite the "low-poly" look of the game, the animations, textured faces, and voice-acting leaned into a wide range of expression and personality.

Lately, I've been thinking about the "comforting" style of early 2000's video game titles and how they've more or less formed my biases for visuals in games for me. The most influential one has been the MegaMan Legends games. >>
