Banning a specific company without addressing the broader issue of data privacy and providing stricter regulations does little to protect sovereignty while suppressing commerce and speech. It does help create winners and losers giving more power and control to our existing oligarchs

Again, absolutely no one is arguing against restrictions for minors. We seem to keep falling back on censorship because “what about the children”

I’ve seen no actual evidence of this, have you? I’ve only seen billionaire oligarchs complaining about a competitor.

Outright censorship is not the way. Once the party you are unaffiliated with thinks censorship is good, you too will come to see this view as a mistake. This doesn’t mean there shouldn’t be rules on access for children.

That’s what MTV was supposed to do to us in the 80s-90s. Why ban one platform and not the others? Maybe limit/stop exposure to children but diversity of opinions is always more desirable than dictating what adults view. Gov curtailing information access cloak in what-about-the-children rhetoric.

Actual proof? I would love to see data on this, not vibes. If our legislators want to take a meaningful approach to curtail all social media for children then let’s focus on that. “X” appears far more dangerous as a mouth piece for Russia than TicTok for China. Then again…vibes.

What meaningful “bans” have US legislators done on its “homegrown” media? What actual data has lead to the need for banning tools of speech beyond “trust me, bro.” I’m highly suspicious of our intentions here with very little evidence of changes to other platforms.

Discrimination of any kind is still discrimination. When you judge a book by its cover and not the message, you become part of the problem. You seem no better than MAGA in this regard.

Currently a large portion of CT is Republican and Libertarian and will probably stay on X. Farcaster seems to be the current alternative competing with Bluesky. I’m seeing more crypto activity on Farcaster than here but only time will tell how it all plays out.

I need this during these trying times

I split a USB3 connection and run 4 monitors off of the one connection. I only use 1 monitor for gaming, my primary gaming monitor and a 2nd monitor run through my graphics card. The usb3 monitors will lag if I try to use them all as one giant monitor.
