I think I've found a way to articulate what bothers me about the trajectory of the modern tech industry (and to some extent... society).
We are on this Earth to provide for each other. That's the "mission" of humanity as I see it.
This is incompatible with what the tech industry seeks to do.

A (mostly) positive thing I can say the tech industry did was coalesce around USB-PD
It's pretty great that when I travel my laptop charger charges all my things! That's often the only charger I bring, plus a cable to charge my phone from my laptop if need be.
Buying cables is a nightmare tho...
