They keep carefully wording this to only say no city public funds. If this gets built without any public funds at all, including state and federal, I'll eat my shoe
December 11, 2024 at 4:56 PM
Yeah I can't wait for all that stadium induced private neighborhood investment to bring in more parking lots
December 11, 2024 at 3:44 PM
Market east will still be shitty after this is built. It needs more than an entertainment venue to be actually revitalized.
December 11, 2024 at 3:34 PM
You're right a skimmed too fast. 3 is not temporary but would still mean public state money going towards increasing commercial revenue of an already large business. I'm not arguing to convince you btw and I know it's practically a done deal, I just think it's a shitty deal rammed down our throats
December 11, 2024 at 3:28 PM
You just listed temporary construction revenue 3 times. Only long term investment it brings is to a privately owned sports team
December 11, 2024 at 3:16 PM
The bar is so low, you could trip over it
December 11, 2024 at 3:08 PM
Invest in philly by building a stadium to increase the value of a sports team 🤔
December 11, 2024 at 3:06 PM
Damn this is how far in the hole we are as Americans. Billionaires paying with their own money is fantastic and not just the standard. I'm not impressed by that!
December 11, 2024 at 3:03 PM
Also there is like 100% public money goes into this, probably from the state. Their wording on this has been very careful to only say no Philly taxes will go to it.
December 11, 2024 at 3:01 PM
How is paying for it themselves even praise? That should be like the bare fuckin minimum. And didn't they already back out of the affordable housing thing?
December 11, 2024 at 2:55 PM
Forced tenancy? You're just building a straw man here. "Let them" as in build whatever they want, wherever they want.
December 11, 2024 at 2:51 PM
Not a nimby, and regardless of Chinatown I don't believe stadiums bring anywhere near the level of economic activity and growth that owners always claim they do, and I hate seeing cities get bent over and fucked on these developments just because some rich guys want to make even more money
December 11, 2024 at 2:47 PM
Yeah yeah, everyone who disagrees with you is a bot
December 11, 2024 at 2:38 PM
Yes. Is Comcast proposing large development in center city?
December 11, 2024 at 2:36 PM
Except no one likes Comcast either, and if they were trying to move a stadium to center city they would be meeting the same resistance
December 11, 2024 at 2:34 PM
Everyone knows when billionaires are determined to do anything, us plebs need to just get over it and let them.
December 11, 2024 at 2:31 PM
People get it, but rich team owners not wanting to pay rent and looking to get the highest property value possible so they can make as much money as possible isn't a compelling enough reason for a lot of people
December 11, 2024 at 2:28 PM
No one in philly is throwing batteries anymore man, get with the times.

We're running each other over now
December 11, 2024 at 3:48 AM
It's no illusion
