There is another place with wall-to-wall books. It is call a library, funded by council (until this coalition gov't says library isn't council's "core service" and deserves a massive cut.) #vote #localelection #effthecoalitiongovt

That first sentence raised red flag already. Is he an Australian intelligence mole to undermine Matamata-Piako??? 🤔😂

And if someone wants to be really pedantic, the coalitions agreement can mean there needs a law that set standards for regulations ONLY, i.e. secondary legislations, not primary legislations. *hint* *hint*

That's my take as well. The coalition agreement says the government will pass a regulatory standards act, not necessarily this particular version. Winston has the power to water it down so much it is meaningless or just repeating current laws, but is still a "regulatory standards act".

I saw that they are still selling tickets right up the last minute, so it wasn't a full house? Sorry didn't go, not a concert type of person. Glad you enjoyed it, he is the real deal, no autotune or anything, and always have a smile on his face.

These kind of stories is like lotto keep publicising the fact that someone won $10mil with a $20 ticket... but failed to tell you that 1) statistically you've a better chance of being hit by a car than winning and 2) how much that person had previously spent on lotto (thousands sunk cost at least).

Also there is the aspect that they could have gotten the forecast wrong. IMO it is fine to get it wrong, predicting future is HARD. I don't blame Metservice.

The forecast I got from them is 4mm/h of rain for a few hours last night. In fact we got ~20mm/h. And lightning so very close to ground.

Freely mixing te reo and English IS confusing, but it also conveys acceptance and equality with English, in a different way. I think everyone is entitled to their own unique approach.

I think he is significant culturally in the sense that speaking and singing Mandarin can be cool in HK, back in the 90s cultural volatility era, when the Empire is quitting Hong Kong and people aren't quite sure what is going to happen.

Or I'm rationalising my affinity to his songs. 😅

Maybe it means more to the Taiwanese community? Anyway here is a youtube sample of his singing, soooo very 90s: www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZ8-...

Exactly, free speech always has limits. Hate speech is just one way to draw where the limit is. And we arrive at limits through political engagement. In a democracy (or specifically a Westminster gov't) Parliament decides democratically where the limits are. We, the people, choose.
