I don't think it really matters how bad either side is, the only real moral option is to figure out which side is better and vote for them. I haven't followed Newsom much myself but I really struggle to believe he could be worse than letting Trump stay in power forever.

If you abstain from voting and the worse party wins, you essentially helped them win. Go for the lesser evil, don't waste your vote on nothing
