The sheer amount of "I GUESS" expressed in that image is an absolutely appropriate response to being asked to opine on self-medicating with superglue instead of duct tape. *applauds your professionalism*

Oh, what a familiar response this is -- every family member in healthcare has been this gif at me at one time or another. Which absolutely means my course of action is the right one and can have no unforeseen consequences whatsoever, hurrah!
December 12, 2025 at 5:56 AM
I mean, my go to for cuts on the job before this was duct tape -- everything else falls off/gets soaked/gets dirty -- so medical superglue can only be an improvement, right?
December 12, 2025 at 5:37 AM
I was *not* going to look up 'EMT superglue chapstick' under any circumstances, I wasn't, and then I did, and now I know that if you've got cuts on your hands during cold weather, putting chapstick on and then medical grade superglue on top of that is apparently a good idea according to reddit.
December 12, 2025 at 5:28 AM
I was thinking more along the lines of "Who replaced my chapstick with superglue!?" but not the best situation either way, especially if Chairman Jang's anywhere close! 😨😨

He'd be a fun clinic nurse! (I had a physics professor who took a metaphysics class as an undergrad and ended up minoring in philosophy. I kind of wonder if maybe a similar fortuitous misunderstanding happened w/ AU Sangha, except with gastronomy & gastroenterology. So much for the snack shop!)
December 12, 2025 at 1:57 AM
"Just a little tube, going up your rectum, dude"

I feel like I can finally admit that the one thing about the GI clinic AU that seemed maybe a tad unrealistic was Sangha ending up in gastroenterology as a career, but I can totally imagine him coming up with lyrics like these to inflict on patients.

Quick, can one of the cats offer him a help action? Inspiration?
December 9, 2025 at 12:28 AM
The belly is not a trap -- also she is the only cat I've ever had that meows when she yawns, which sounds exactly like a disappointed toddler going "Aww!" -- so, yes, a genuine treasure. Except she doesn't like to hold still for photos, so it's a real chore trying to find the few decent ones.
December 7, 2025 at 10:39 AM
Belatedly realized I do in fact have evidence of the weirdo outlier belly in question (since it's rude to go mentioning cats on the internet without photographic proof):
December 7, 2025 at 10:16 AM
(Fun fact: my own cat is a weirdo outlier who loves belly rubs and detests back patting, so no, Sunwoo, the power of butts will not compel me.)

To be fair, I'm the sort of worker who would probably open the metaphorical pickle jar by breaking it, so room for improvement on both sides, I think.
December 4, 2025 at 11:19 AM
You are a good and very patient work dad.

My boss is the type who would leave a metaphorical pickle jar at a job site, no instructions, then come back when I'm midway through planting pickles to show me how I should have opened the jar in the first place.

"Can you recommend an ornamental plant that flowers all year, doesn't drop its leaves in winter, thrives on neglect, is disease & pest resistant, handles extremes in heat, cold, drought & rainfall, and doesn't grow too slow or too big?"

So close to saying, "Try the plastic flowers aisle." So close.

Yay, you brought him back!! The 100% authentically angelic Jang Gunwoo we all know and love returned to guide us in our hour of need!

Not gonna lie, trying to envision a character with no interactions with other characters to shape them got me reflecting on how much of myself is really me and how much is just one "I defy you, stars!" reaction after another to... pretty much everything. Stupid introspection. NOT TODAY, PHILOSOPHY.
December 2, 2025 at 2:55 AM
This is cool to know, thank you! Seems like an advantage, then, that you wouldn't start w/ all the characters fully-formed, since that might get in the way of them changing & shifting perspective through the events & people they encounter. (This thing called character growth, so out-of-character!)
December 2, 2025 at 2:54 AM
Or is it archetypes and dynamics first, then characters, then whoops suddenly out of nowhere a story idea appears?
December 2, 2025 at 2:09 AM
One more question, though, if you'll indulge my curiosity: how does the plot affect all this?
Does the story you want to tell determine the archetypes you choose, and the events that need to happen shape the dynamics/relationships?
December 2, 2025 at 2:09 AM
Ah, okay, understood! I was getting hung up on the writing dynamics/relationships and not people thing and being like "Interactions without people? People with no interactions?? HOW???" and spectacularly misunderstood the point you were trying to make, yay me.
