I met Danny Wegman on the first day of my first job out of college back in 2001. He was President of our Board, came out of a meeting, looked into my eyes, and asked me if I could (get this) photocopy something for him. I said "of course" and then proceeded to ask a coworker how to do that.

Water jets proving to us how “fresh” everything is. Seafood, vegetables, etc.

Update! I’ve been in touch with Hector tonight. I’ve referred him to the artist for Phosphorescent Panda. I’ve also given his contact info to an artist (Panda found) that’s looking to reconnect with hers!

Here I am helping a friend paint her Panda. I have no idea where this one ended up.

Enjoyed the Wednesday Whopper. It would seem that the new one is a retread of the How to Train Your Dragon one from this summer.

I met Nolan Ryan on the floor of the Astrodome in the 80s. My team won a float parade and got free tix. My dad was there and played against him in a Little League Championship game back in the early 60s. Nolan Ryan still remembered his stats in that game. He fanned my dad twice btw.

Could it also be that 22 years olds nowadays don’t drive and have taken Ubers on their own their whole lives? When I was 22 I worked in DC and we metro hopped all around town going to happy hours and clubs. And this was in the long ago early 2000s.

The scariest part of the metro is when you have a 20 min wait until your next car and your phone battery is almost dead.

I saw him on Broadway in the Elephant Man right before his Oscar nom for American Sniper. He was better in the Elephant Man and not even close. Very humble dude when hanging with the crowd after the show.

The day I filmed segments of clips (there's another building in there I think may also have been Burger Chef) was busy. What once was a 2 screen theater is now a church and the parking lot was packed. The other business (a supermarket) had closed years before my bro was in school and has been since.

I have a long line of videos I've been working on and recently released ones about the Red Barn and Nobody Beats the Wiz. My brother played college football in Danville in the early 2000s and we watched the city change a lot in those years.

Oh, nice! That was me. I'm the guy on the NOVA Facebook groups that keeps asking about old buildings. I have a YouTube channel called Retro Pop Planet and I like covering some of this stuff. This was part of a retrospective I made about Burger Chef: www.youtube.com/watch?v=JNqd...

I was in Danville, VA a few years ago investigating an old open kite 1960s A Frame Burger Chef for a YouTube video I was working on, and right behind me was a former Bonanza building.

Plus - I live in NOVA and he makes absolutely zero news here. He’s not even on any of the nightly local news channels. A total non-entity.

Ben-Hur. You could sink almost a weeks worth of classes out of that one.

Except several years ago Firehouse subs went after the Old Firestation Restaurant in Fairfax City that actually was in an old Firehouse Building.

We ran into him on the Palatine Hill in Rome in 2019. My brother saw him napping on a bench and then I saw him walking away with his guide. Turns out to go do a CNN hit the day Notre Dame was burning. I never got a chance to meet him.

Oh, hell yeah! I didn’t realize McD’s had a version. Basically a copy of Long John Silver’s Ocean Chef Salad from the same time period. I made a retrospective video last summer on YouTube about it and remade the salad: youtu.be/vXUuCOd01Vs?...

At 45 I had a Tri malleolar fracture of my ankle and dislocated my foot playing softball...after a lifetime of competitive sports. 2 surgeries and 6 mos of rehab for a stupid ego injury. I do miss playing.

I take the metro every time I’m in the city. The biggest challenge is deciding which train will get me from point A to B faster. Is it the one that comes in a minute or in three. If he wants to complain then complain about DC metro. As a forever local I’d rather drive downtown.

Pretty sure Red Dog was marketed exclusively to high school seniors in 1995 (me in particular). The advertising was top tier.

That Roy Rogers (turned McDonald's in Burke) was my family's go-to Roy's as a kid. I'm fairly certain it turned into a Hardee's for maybe a year (at most) in the early 90's when Hardee's Restaurants LLC took over. A more interesting Roy's was in Fairfax City. www.youtube.com/watch?v=8sMH...
