Oh, and another big difference. F-35 is nuclear strike capable, the EF is not. That's the reason many NATO-forces were "pressed" into buying them.

Actually, the Eurofighter WAS primarly an interceptor, as this role was more urgent than the ground attack. GB, D, I still had the Tornado for ground attack, as compared to the Phantom, Tornado ADV and leased F-16 for air defense.
Nowadays, it's fully multi-role.
