At the protest today in Longmont, CO, I saw solid evidence that this is a grass roots movement. A young protester had made a sign from a diaper box reading "this is not the country I want for my daughter".

With increasing talk of taking the Panama Canal, Greenland, and Canada plus dividing Ukraine with Russia, Americans are going to have to decide whether they approve of becoming an empire and bully. Last time we did that was 1848, when we forcibly took vast territory from Mexico. How will you react?

Highly significant were the votes in the UN on Monday. The US voted with Russia and N Korea but not with our traditional European allies. The difference was whether wording should state that Russia was the aggressor with Ukraine. Sadly, this is who we are now.

The betrayal of Ukraine is a new low for the US. One of the 4 main goals of our foreign policy is "Advance democracy, human rights, and other global interests". To side with Putin and turn against Ukraine is not only a betrayal of Ukraine, it is a betrayal of our own purposes. Wake Up America!

A fact not mentioned these days is that the contest between Trump and Harris had only 1.5 percent difference in the popular vote. That is hardly a mandate. It also means that 48.3 percent of us are not happy.

The time has come to own the term "woke". Some try to insult me by calling me a boy scout, and I thank them for the compliment. When the term "woke" is tossed, it describes a person who is aware of his/her obligations to our society and environment. I will letter a new cap to read "Wake Up America!"

There is a link between climate change and immigration that is not widely discussed. When vast areas of the planet become inhospitable to human life due to high temperatures and/or lack of water, migration will increase. Will we be magnaminous or selfish? Will we build bridges or walls?
