Astrological Weather Warning
October 30 3049
The current AO of Operation Veil Rider will be subject to a total solar eclipse.
This zone of total darkness is expected to progress across the planet for the next 8 hours.
November 3, 2024 at 5:10 PM
However I do have an intel summary to post, an astrological weather report, and maybe a few hints at what they'll face under the Killing Moon.

That's mission 3, the writeup isn't as exciting as the others mostly because there were A LOT of head shots that happened in really funny spots.
Next up the team deploy to rescue a missing patrol lance.
That write up will have to wait till we actually play that mission though!
October 29, 2024 at 2:22 AM
The payoff though was the respect of the SWG, them leaning on Kingdom to improve their salvage payouts permanently, and the SWG techs augmenting their manpower to bring the team back to action.
The team will return to their garrison duty and wait for the next call up.

With that the team had pulled it off, however it wasn't without damages.
Scaramouche had an arm blown off costing him the valuable ERPPC that took the Quickdraw out.
Psyche had her gyro smashed up, only able to walk off the field because a jumpjet took the brunt of the damage.
October 29, 2024 at 2:18 AM
Blur seeing this chose to place his Phoenix Hawk between the Orion and freedom, the two metal giants stared each other down for a moment as Blur attempted to demand the pilots surrender.
The Orion answered with weapons fire, choosing violence.
This ended shortly after as careful fire took out his RT
October 29, 2024 at 2:15 AM
The Nightraven landed behind the undying mech and gave it peace finally. A swift punch to the head and the retractable blade in its arm took the head clean off ending the threat.
Now only the Orion was left and he was running, almost in position to escape the net that was cast for it
October 29, 2024 at 2:08 AM
The pilot tried to keep his mech up but toppled over, out of the fight.
The same couldn't be said for the Black Knight, with half its body shot off it still kept coming at Ghost wanting to brutalize its ranged tormentor.
The Nightraven wouldn't have any of this and dove on it, blade at the ready.
October 29, 2024 at 2:07 AM
The fighting at this point was brutal, mech parts had been shot off, pilots were injured, but each side continued to close the gap approaching melee range.
During this time the Rifleman took a brutal shot from the SWG gauss rifles smashing into its torso and obliterating the gyros.
October 29, 2024 at 2:04 AM
The other half of the team, one of the heavily modified Phoenix Hawks (known to the SWG as a Nightraven), took off running to cover the left flank while it's partner pushed the right.
They aimed to act as the hammer and smash these pirates on the anvil of our heroes.
October 29, 2024 at 2:02 AM
It was at this point the first signs of the Nightravens showed up on the edge of the engagement.
A strange Marauder with two dorsal guns lumbered on the to field and announced itself with two gauss shots.
One tearing into the back of the Orion, staggering the mech.
October 29, 2024 at 1:59 AM
Our newest member Scaramouche showed his worth early and a blast of his ER PPCs took the Quickdraw's head off before it could even get another round of fire off.
The distance between the two parties continued to close with the hostile forces giving as good as they got from the team.
October 29, 2024 at 1:54 AM
The Quickdraw doesn't like this plan and closest the distance between them chewing away at the poor Phoenix Hawk.
Of course as this is happening the Orion is shelling the rest of the lance with its LRMs, and our Black knight is engaging in a time honored tradition with Ghost, PPC exchanges at range.
October 29, 2024 at 1:43 AM
A Rifleman and an Orion are facing them down with no signs of the Nightravens short of 4 very angry battlemechs looking at them.
The engagement quickly closes as the 4 mechs push ahead wanting to escape the trap laid for them.
Blur decides a long flank along the sides of the area is in order.
October 29, 2024 at 1:41 AM
The team hits the ground running, the battlefield is a nasty canyon with hills all around, and our team realizes just how dangerous the center pathway is.
A PPC blast is quickly sent towards the team, harmlessly flying by as they learn what they're going to tussle with.
A Black Knight, A Quickdraw
October 29, 2024 at 1:40 AM
Hale wants our heroes to block an advancing lance of mechs that his Nightraven team has been chasing down.
Side note, Nightravens are SWG recon teams who get into trouble often, usually for picking fights they shouldn't but do because they love the challenge.
They're a bit crazy.
October 29, 2024 at 1:36 AM
Scaramouche makes his appearance around this point, slotting in as another freelance merc to fill Hamm's spot on the Leopard.
Cmd Hale of the SWG reaches out (and cuts out Kingdom in the process) to our pilots and informs them of a job they're doing.
He needs violence of action.

Mission 3 picks up over a month later, the team has been on garrison/patrol duty since the Mercury engagement.
Ghost has finally had his Marauder up and running, needing a shakedown mission to work out the machines new upgrades.
Hamm is unfortunately sidelined due to unforeseen maintenance.
October 29, 2024 at 1:31 AM
With that we've ended mission 2 of the #battletech campaign. My players have started customizing their mechs with the salvage they've collected and now the Marauder is in a refit with DHS, a UAC/5, and jumpjets. The Hunchback now has ECM
Tomorrow we'll get on with Mission 3 then we're all caught up!
October 26, 2024 at 10:31 PM
With that the team began a series of refits and repairs for their units, the action died down and they took their spots on the line as rapid reaction troops and garrison troops the next.

The loss of the Longtom hurt the sense of accomplishment and now two elite pilots had escaped the lance.

In the end the team was successful, they dispatched 7 enemy units, rescued the SWG pilots, and recovered almost all of the Mercury.
As a sign of thanks the SWG commander helped them increase their salvage shares for this operation allowing the team to get creative with some of their refits.
October 26, 2024 at 10:19 PM
All the while this was going on a Longtom and its associated ammo truck began slowly sneaking out the back of the dropship. Our valiant heroes failed to notice before it was too late and the two vehicles escaped the field, giving the Charger an opening to withdraw as well.
October 26, 2024 at 10:14 PM
These two pilots duked it out while the lance resolved the pests attacking their charges.
Both pilots tore into each other but the wear and tear from the hours of fighting took its toll on the SWG pilot and she began making mistakes.
The lance was forced to come to her aid.
