Common art mistake I find is people using human esque anatomy when drawing heads of animals. For example people not used to drawing cats often make the chin and jaw too large.

Most good games are designed in a way where you need to play them on more difficult settings to actually engage with the mechanics properly.
Some games do just make enemies damage sponges tho so you don't gain anything on higher difficulty settings.
