They want to prove government can't benefit anybody and can't work at all. They want absolutely everything in the hands of private, for profit business. It's called anarcho-capitalism, or corporate feudalism. This has been the goal of GOP since Reagan. It's a pre-1776 form of social organization.

I think you misunderstand what's happening. If GOP agrees, the extension will *expire right before the midterm elections* which will kill GOP with voters. If they refuse, GOP owns the shutdown; btw primaries start in January. Either way, ACA screws GOP. @schumer.senate.gov has GOP in a corner.
