Christian Algar will speak on the reassembly, analysis and appraisal of John Bellingham Inglis (1780-1870): rare book collector; savant; scholar; slave owner.

Three short papers will be presented by recipients of the Society’s research grants. Elvira Miceli will share preliminary findings from research at the medieval archive of Cava de’ Tirreni, using them to reconsider the palaeography of a major late twelfth¬-century codex.

This might include book history, textual transmission, the making and use of manuscripts, publishing, printing, bookbinding, book-ownership and book-collecting. These awards are intended to support research that advances the understanding of book cultures from all parts of the World.
