Re the Beatles my experience with them growing up in the 1970s was they were ubiquitous. Always on top 40 radio. We sang Yellow Submarine in kindergarten. The Beatles cartoon was in reruns. The Long & Winding Road was played at every wedding reception. By the time I was 12, I was sick of them

It started in Boston and I've always hated that song and Neil Diamond did not help it one bit when he claimed it was about Caroline Kennedy as a girl and I dread it every time I'm at a Sox game
