If you are anxious and sad about the state of the world, that's fine, and there are plenty of strategies for dealing with that. But I think you already know that drive-by online dooming isn't a strategy. It's selfish and adolescent. It's a contagion that only spreads the worst of you, not the best.

Being a jack of all trades is awesome, actually. Learning a little bit about a variety of skills makes you useful and cool.

Also, roasting vegetables is easier and makes them taste better.

As a librarian professionally and a voracious tech news reader personally, I have yet to find a valuable use for LLMs. "Magic background eraser" tools and the like have their uses, but LLMs are a solution in search of a problem.
