"Life can only be understood backwards, but it must be lived forwards"
These👇 two untrustworthy Trump knuckleheads are still trying to stitch-up Ukraine:
‘A Ukrainian official familiar with the US proposal in Moscow said: “They have things we refused to discuss . . . things we did not endorse that they want to discuss with the Russians”’

Trump’s special U.S Carpet Bagger Envoys - Witless Witkoff & Javid Kashner - have arrived safely in Moscow to meet with War Criminal #Putin in an effort to carve up #Ukraine, betray its citizens, condemn them to Russian serfdom and the jackboot, whilst creating ‘deals’ to enrich themselves and Trump

Brilliant film director. He's brought so much joy and entertainment into our lives.
So many of his movies fall in to my 'favourites' category but 'Gladiator', 'Kingdom of Heaven' and 'Black Hawk Down' top my list.
Happy 88th birthday, Sir Ridley! 🎉🎈🥳

Tory 'Hooray Henry' haughtily mansplains to Sophy Ridge why Rachel Reeves must resign.
And there I was having thought that this sub-breed of supercilious 'look-down-your-nose' Tory-ism was extinct (at least since GE2024)😳

Over 100,000 signatures. Thanks to all who helped get this petition over the line. Now for a parliamentary debate. But that must lead to instant release of the Russia Report and an independent judicial public inquiry/investigation with powers to refer suspected corruption cases to DPP (prosecution)✌️
November 30, 2025 at 10:12 AM
This public inquiry needs to happen. Ex-PM Boozo Johnson 'sat' on the Russia Report for a reason and is suspected of close 'links' to Russian oligarchs. Brits need to know the extent of the Kremlin's 🕷️insidious influence on UK politics & democracy. Please sign👍

Two more books on the go for 'Daytime' & 'Nighttime' reading:
🌝 'Kaiser Wilhelm II' - Christopher Clark. A learned fair-minded, biography, correcting history's tropes
🌚 'Ali Pasha, Lion of Ioannina' - Quentin Russell. The life of an early c19th Ottoman Albanian pasha in Rumelia

Putin's Useful Idiots...

(Europe! Get a grip! Take the lead.
Don't allow Russia's Enablers to betray Ukraine and its people).

Haven't watched #BBC #Newsnight in a long time, so imagine my surprise to see that it's been turned into a comedy act
November 22, 2025 at 10:44 AM
Yaaawn 🥱...
As sure as night follows day SkyNews rolls out former Tory ministers, wholly incompetent failures while in office - like the intellectually-challenged Helen Whately - to "critique" (aka slag-off) Labour. The British public deserve better - fresh faces with new, relevant, workable ideas

I'm always interested to know the reading habits and current books of like-minded bookish readers. I usually have two books on the go: a 'Daytime' and a 'Nighttime' (bedside) book.
My current duo:
🌝 'Seapower States' - Andrew Lambert
🌚 'Patrick Leigh Fermor' - Artemis Cooper
And you?

Just out of the picture at the other end of the table is a new #BBC CEO, somebody going by the name of Robbie Gibb
November 11, 2025 at 7:21 PM
It's Nigel Huddleston on telly again, Tory shadow cabinet for culture etc, jumping on the 'Bash the BBC for Bias!' bandwagon, using examples like Gaza & the Arabic service, yet curiously making no mention of the two pro-Brexit, anti-Labour Tory implants Chris Mason & Kuenssberg. Selective editing!

Remembrance Sunday🎗️.
With deepest gratitude to all those British & Commonwealth service men and women who sacrificed life and limb for a better world.
"At the going down of the sun and in the morning.
We will remember them"
Eternal respect 🙏🫡🕯️

It can't have escaped the notice of even the most obtuse & reclusive of the British public that the Labour govt is, er,"struggling" for its political life, but the #TrevorPhillips & panel Sky Sunday Morning show seems intent on digging the grave and burying it entirely. A bit more 'balance' please 😉

The Brits didn't just "try", they did destroy the White House, burning it in 1814. But unlike Trump, they did it in retaliation for prior American looting/burning in British-held Upper Canada and unlike Trump, they had the good grace to leave after just one day in the capital

Not for nothing does Trump deserve his well-earned plaudit: TACOMan 🌮🤡

So the FBI made a mistake.
What they really meant to say was "Tonto and the Lone Ranger".

Only €20 mil?
Doesn't seem much for protecting all those undersea cables.
Might just about pay for a few of these...

So much for Western sanctions.

Why is it that every time I watch a Starmer speech it feels like listening to a funeral oration? Gravitas needn't adopt the mournful timbre of the graveyard, Prime Minister

“People who are outside the EU often have a better sense of what it stands for; they have a better understanding of the value of the EU – than the EU itself.” #Moldova
For sure. Implying that too many smug skeptics within the EU criticize its perceived 'failures' yet enjoy its manifold benefits.
