From a Philippine POV, I doubt it'll deter people from visiting tbh. The only potential hurdle is the visa really. Here, we don't need a visa for HK but need one for Japan and Korea. But more people have been visiting the latter in recent years ever since some of the visa requirements were eased.

Idk what western tourist trends are like but from a Southeast Asian perspective, it's taken advantage of it a lot. Donki is pretty much a psuedo tourist spot for お土産 lol
