My favourite novel of last year is now in paperback, and I shall be recommending it to absolutely everyone! It very skilfully weaves together three main stories linked by rivers, historical fact and The Epic of Gilgamesh and is the most enchanting and move book I’ve read for a while.

Our fiction section is tiny, but has a lot to choose from! We are often asked how we chose our books, @gardnersbooks.bsky.social (our wholesaler) is a huge help, as are social media and reviews, and as we have both been booksellers since the ‘90’s so we often just use the bookseller’s radar! 😂👀🔎

I’ve become a bit (!) obsessed with the romantasy phenomenon, so was very very excited for this to be published. It’s the third in the series and after racing through it for two days I’m now stressed, sad, angry and filled with questions. It was fantastic. #onyxstorm
