Is there a word for when you normalize something, and somebody makes an extreme theoretical example to mock the thing you normalized, and then people wait like one generation, and embrace the extreme theoretical example as their default mode, until everything is progressive but also super silly

I swear modern movie critics decide what they think before they buy the ticket and then write reviews to ruin it for everyone else.
