Fun Fact: We do not know how to tell someone’s gender from DNA. There are strong _correlations_, but it’s far less strong than you may think.

The Olympics tried this, and had to stop because it was “unreliable”…

I was an insane person who'd put a lot of organic shapes in my levels. These spikes probably cost me literal days of work.

Not in how long it took to make them, but in the CSG problems they caused. Often the area in the middle of these would just be a black void, or they would create massive rifts.

Not sure about the iPhone Sea though, Apple's "foldable" iPhone. Seems a bit hard to hold.

BMW showed off their first real Neue Klass platform based production vehicle, the 2027 iX3.

Certainly some really interesting stuff, but... uh... did they miss the memo about piano black touch sensitive controls being universally hated?

Clearly a manipulated photo was uploaded, so I uncovered the original unedited version.

Not super rare, but I own a Disneyland Ticket Book that has all of its E Tickets still. The person who originally bought this was a family member who threw it in a drawer after their first time going to Disneyland and forgot about it for 50 years before finding it and giving it to me.

Good News Expat Canadians! They sell Ketchup Chips in the US now!*

(* They’re corn chips, not potato, and taste nothing like ketchup chips. Just like most US versions of Canadian products.)

This should be fine, right? The 50 series only uses one of these wires for all of the power anyway.

People talk about "brute force" "breadth-first" or "depth-first" methods for finding some data in a data tree.

I'd like to propose my alternative algorithm: "final-first"

Just go straight to the thing you're looking for rather than iterating over everything. Much faster.

So, what's keeping a DisplayPort output from accepting an HDMI cable directly? Apart from two little bits of plastic, nothing. You can shave those off of any DisplayPort output and plug in an HDMI cable, and it'll "just work".

And a few devices come with those ports already...

This chart from @hardwareunboxed.bsky.social made me chuckle. Using original launch MSRPs for all of them is a nice touch at making the whole video even more rediculous.

Though, typo, that's average 4k fps data not 1080p.

The node graph equivalent of premature optimization is premature node organization.

You have your graph doing roughly what you want, start cleaning things up, and then go "huh, I wonder what'd happen if I change this..." and a few minutes later you're looking at this:

This might be your personal rocket launch moment. Everything coming together exactly as you hoped with something ultimately outside of your control.

@offhanddisney.bsky.social The latest Walt Disney Imagineering YouTube video has some really interesting (but quick) shots of what the current Haunted Mansion ride system actually is. It's obviously been updated since the original patents, a lot is there.

All the latest high end motherboards have been adding complicated easy release features to the PCIe slot locks. This is to make removing GPUs easier as they and air coolers get bigger and bigger. But some are causing damage to GPUs.

What was wrong with the old tried and true method?

iPhone facial recognition can unlock my phone when I'm wearing my glasses, or a mask. But for some reason refuses to unlock my phone when I'm wearing a hoodie. Clearly they have work to do.

If only there was some hint during the start of the game that there might have been some woke-ness in the creation of the game they could have avoided this blunder...
