The point of a judicial system in a strong man dictatorship is to provide a facade of legitimacy to what is essentially a criminal enterprise. Beneath that veneer, any sleazy or immoral or illegal or unconstitutional act is blessed with the stamp of approval.

I appreciate much of what President Biden achieved domestically. But his legacy could have been preserved and (perhaps) his administration continued if he had said 8 words to Netanyahu: no more weapons until you stop killing babies.

So I was listening to @NPR.Bsky.social this morning and heard @steveinskeep.bsky.social describe Donald Trump as a “climate change skeptic” and I realized that words don’t mean anything and none of us should be surprised that we are where we are. He’s not a skeptic. He’s a climate change advocate.
