Great to see @mayor.nyc.gov dedicate major resources ($400 million!) for public space on 5th Avenue in Manhattan.

But we’ve got to get the design right so pedestrians, bus riders, and people on bikes aren’t left in the lurch.

HUGE - a victory for generations of activists and a major quality of life improvement for New Yorkers.

Never doubt the power of grit, activist passion, and comically-oversized golden scissors.

New York’s top ten super speeders and the locations where they terrorize New Yorkers.

Time to stop super speeders.
April 17, 2025 at 4:54 AM
It’s time for Albany to act to #stopsuperspeeders.

No New York family should experience this horror.

Take action here:

A super speeder killed a mother and two young daughters today on a sunny afternoon in Brooklyn.

Albany can act *this session* to slow down super speeders and prevent future tragedies.

It’s a gorgeous day today and joggers, tourists, and people on bikes are endangered on the Queensboro bridge path.

@NYCMayor has let a safety plan for a dedicated pedestrian path - in the works for YEARS - languish.

Enough.

Pretty great commute to my first meeting of the day this morning.

Traffic moving smoothly on Columbus Circle at rush hour as we’re here celebrating congestion pricing!

The preliminary budget hearing for @nycdot.bsky.social is coming up this week.

The mayor promised his budget cuts wouldn't impact public safety, but safe streets are public safety.

It's time to end the safe streets hiring freeze and fund DOT!

Dean street packed today with bikes during evening rush - and it’s only March 12!

I’ve got a feeling it’s going to be a record-breaking year for #bikenyc.

(And we could definitely use a Bergen/Dean bike boulevard!)

ICYMI: President Trump wants to bring back traffic.
February 11, 2025 at 11:25 PM
Spoke with @nytimes.com about the great @nyc-dot.bsky.social project on 3rd Avenue that’s making the street safer and more efficient for people in cars, on foot, on buses, and on bikes - all while keeping everyone moving.

Why does President Trump want to bring back the traffic?

His own former transportation advisor disagrees: “rather than preemptively declaring failure, we should evaluate results…NYC has turned a soul-sapping quagmire into an efficient urban asset.”

Thank you for standing strong,
@govkathyhochul.bsky.social!

“Hochul tried to convince him the program is making a big difference in New York, not only raising much-needed cash for the area's aging transportation system, but reducing traffic and speeding commutes.”

Great to be on the bus to Albany this morning with passionate New Yorkers (like @familiesforsafestreets.org member Roz!) to advocate for safe streets and SLOW DOWN DANGEROUS DRIVERS!

Speed cameras work: “new research shows that speeding has been reduced by 94% in locations where speed cameras are located.”

New York, we have a super speeder problem: "vehicles that had acquired at least 25 speed camera violations over the course of one year were 15 times more likely to be in a crash that resulted in death or severe injury than the ordinary driver."

Unfortunately, the State of the City today was a striking missed opportunity on streets and transportation from @mayor.nyc.gov.

If Mayor Adams wants NYC to be the best city in the world for families, he needs to fix our streets.

Really exciting to be present last night for the switching-on of NYC’s congestion-relief toll. Great to see so many friends and heroes celebrating a hard-fought victory.

A new era for the streets and transit system of the greatest city in the world starts today.

If everyone who commutes to Manhattan every day did so by car we would need “48 new eight-lane bridges” and “24 square miles of underground parking that takes up the entire borough.”
